I feel pretty, oh so pretty!

Earlier this week my little sister, Boo (her nickname), sent a beautiful photo of herself. She's been in Spain for the past couple of months getting tan, visiting pastelerias, sight seeing, and maybe doing some of her classes too.

As my daughters and I were gushing over how pretty Boo is, an honest little girl made the comment, "Mom used to look like that every day."

"Really?" other voices chimed in.

"Yup! She made sure she had her hair just right and she'd even put on makeup."

Sometimes the truth hurts. It hit home that I haven't been taking time for myself each morning as far as making myself look my best. I guess it's partly because we are so far from town that I think it doesn't matter. But apparently some little monkeys have been noticing! So my new habit this week will be to make myself more presentable for my family. I will take the time to do my hair instead of just pulling it back in a ponytail every day and I will put on some make-up to boot.

Habit 9 Mark my habits
off on my chart
Habit 8 Read to my children everyday. LOVING THIS!
Habit 7 Hand written letters - easy when the goal is only one a week!
Habit 6 Latch on to the Affirmative
Habit 5 Stick to a school schedule
Habit 4 Tickle the Ivory
Habit 3 Clean as I go - becoming a habit!
Habit 2 Use positive reinforcement
Habit 1 Exercise for 30 minutes every day

Kids are amazing observers. I think a bit of makeup and doing my hair does wonders for me.

Good luck this week (I noticed the using the habit chart - that's a good one too).

When my first few kids were small they never saw me in anything but pony tails and occasionally mascara, so none of them remember me any other way. Of course I would always fix myself up for church and special occasions. My kids never commented on my appearance but my husband did. :-)

Out of the mouth of babes! This is a great habit. I hope your hubby notices & appreciates even more than your kids do. And even more importantly that you feel beautiful each day. Good luck this week!

Now you're making me feel bad. I NEVER wear make up except to Church. I had to force myself to put some on before going to a concert last night and I don't think my kids would recognize me without a pony tail. Have a pretty week!

I haven't wore makeup in years!

;-)

But my kids let me know I am fat awhile back!

Kids do say the darnedest things. :) Seriously, I almost always wear slacks to church. Whenever I do wear a dress, the kids immediately gush over me and tell me how pretty I am. I guess it is just such a strange sight for them (and likely to stay one, lol). Have fun gussying yourself up this week. I do think it is important that our kids know we take care of ourselves. And just think how much our other halves would enjoy it!

WOW, I LIKE this habit! I too have noticed a difference in the way I take care of myself (or don't!) since I started staying at home with our kids 2 years ago. I think it is important to put effort into ourselves as well as our families, and this can work on the inside as well, help boost your confidence level! Good for you! Have a GREAT week!

Enjoy making yourself pretty everyday. I am sure you will feel good, too :)!!
