Photo Hunt: Art

For these week's theme of Art I decided to show some with western American flair. I took these photographs of the artwork that is displayed on some buildings here in town. To really appreciate the details in the paintings click on each photo to enlarge it. The first is of our convention center.
The following two photos show western scenes painted on the Sun Dance Casino across from the convention center. Our small town's claim to fame is that the local bank was the last one to be robbed by Butch Cassidy, the Sun Dance Kid, and some of their compadres. There's some evidence to the contrary, but hey, the town's claimed it too long to give it up now, right?
Notice how the artist worked with what was on the building, incorporating it into the artwork: the door for the stage coach above and the security light and pipe on the horse's head below.
Check out other photographers' interpretations of art at tnchick.com. And to see more great murals click on over to Alice's site and also Janie's. These are awesome!

Those must be great to see when you drive by.

Those are great. An artist has done something similar on some buildings in a town north of us. In one of them the artist has painted cattle, and as you drive by the building, you can hear cattle mooing. Very creative. Welcome to the Photo Hunt!

Those are great murals. It's amazing how an artist or group of artists can come up with such a grand display of art.

Murals are one artform that I have really come to enjoy since moving out west. The weather on the East Coast makes them a less prosperous art form. Here in LA we have tons and I love them all. I love how the door way is part of the stage coach!

Those are some amazing murals and I say if your town wants to lay claim to being the last bank robbed by Butch and Sundance then more power to them! They could claim worse things!
