Silver State Valley

I guess I'd better introduce myself and my family. My husband, Joseph, and I (I'm Montse) and our six daughters Eve (10), Marie (8), Sara (6), Abby (5), Debbie (3), and Laura (1) recently moved to a new farm.

The Flying W Partnership, which my husband and his five brothers own, bought this farm earlier this year and through a series of events to complicated to detail we ended up moving here.

The farm is 3 sections of land all catty-corner to each other. For those who don't know how much a section is: a section of land is one square mile, or 640 acres. We raise alfalfa hay and also have rotation crops of wheat and corn. Most of the hay gets sold to California dairies. Here is a picture of the valley where we are located. The picture is taken from the edge of our yard. This is the view west of our house. Don't you think the view is spectacular?

The green and trees farthest in the distance is the last section that the farm owns. We live on the first section. Here is a picture of our home with Joseph and the girls on the deck.

And here's the whole house.

Here's the lastest family picture. Not professional by any means, but good enough to see what we look like.
We are hoping to chronicle our farming and homeschooling experiences using this blog so our family and friends can see what we are up to here in Nevada.
