Friendly Persuasion - rerun

Corrie asked about the movie Friendly Persuasion. So here's a repost from my archives:

This is one of our absolute favorite family films. It's even achieved the distinguished honor of being a Sunday approved movie. The only other movies the girls are allowed to watch are church produced. If you haven't seen it please find a copy and gather the whole family around. It is great!

The Birdwell family are Quakers living in Indiana during the Civil War. The family struggles on how true they will stand to their Quaker convictions about music, the war, and even other forms of violence. :-D You'll see what I mean when you watch!

I think I've seen this, didn't they have an organ? It was great!

I love Gary Cooper movies.

I do remember seeing this long ago, probably before I could really appreciate it. I'll have to see it again.

I just reserved it on Blockbuster.com and saw that it's based on a book by Jessamyn West. I love Jessamyn West, so this movie sounds right up my alley. Thanks for the recommendation!
