Pen to paper letters

Last week's goal of saying "yes" to my children turned out to be so much fun and very stress free. We completed some sewing projects, planted some flowers, took walks, read books, made cookies. I'm surprised at how little time it actually took to do things I've been putting off! Sara really wanted a pair of pants patched up so when she asked it only took 5 minutes! It seems to take more time telling them "no" over and over again then it does to say "yes" and just do it.

My new Smart habit to work on this week is letter writing. Real, honest-to-goodness, pen-to-paper, stuffed in an envelope letters. Yes, it's faster to e-mail or make a telephone call, but they just don't replace receiving a tangible, hand written letter in the mail. My goal is to write at least one every week.

And none will hear the postman's knock
Without a quickening of the heart.
For who can bear to feel himself forgotten?

Here are the other habits I've been working on:

Habit 6 Latch on to the Affirmative did really well this week!
Habit 5 Stick to a school schedule harder for the older girls now that the farming is underway
Habit 4 Tickle the Ivory was able to play four days this week
Habit 3 Clean as I go - becoming a habit!
Habit 2 Use positive reinforcement with my children- habit
Habit 1 Exercise for 30 minutes every day - works better if I can do it first thing in the morning.

Your habits are just coming right along, congrats! And how fun that your saying yes to the kids more often was so successful. I am doing better at adopting this attitude.

I love your new habit! Letter writing, the good old fashioned way, is becoming a lost art. Getting good mail will brighten anyone's day.

I love a handwritten letter. It does mean so much more! Good luck this week!

Oooo handwritten letters, very nice. I find it easy to keep in touch with those who email, but there are still those who don't and a real letter would make their day.

Have a great week. I enjoyed your photo art.

I LOVE your habits! I was thinking of letter writing too, but I think I will save that one for later. I really want to try the "Say yes to kids" one.
