Sticking to it

May seems to be the hardest month for us to stick to our schedule for school. We homeschool on a rotating basis of 3 months on, one month off. April was our month off. And so far, it seems, the last couple of weeks have been off too. The kids have no problem doing school when they are supposed to in June and July (probably because of the heat) but May is a different story. The weather is perfect, flowers are blooming, the birds have nests with eggs in them, and we get all excited about starting a vegetable garden. So our schooling suffers a bit. My habit for this week is to try and stick to our schedule of getting school done before lunch. Then we have the rest of the day for projects or play. Here are the other habits I'm working on:

Habit 4 Tickle the Ivory was able to play a little bit more than last week.
Habit 3 Clean as I go - becoming a habit!
Habit 2 Use positive reinforcement with my children- habit
Habit 1 Exercise for 30 minutes every day - missed 3 days this week

The Lazy Organizer, who started Smart Habit Saturday, has links to other bloggers also working on improving themselves one step at a time.

Props for homeschooling your kids. I know that takes a lot of commitment & organization I'm sure. Good luck with the new schedule.

Great idea! I was homeschooled and this was a hard one for us too but well worth it when we stuck to it! :)

Well don't feel too bad about the month of May. Sometimes it appears to me that very little happens in the public schools during that month either.

It sounds like you have a good system going in your house. Good luck this week sticking to it!
