Craziness

This week has been rather crazy. I've had to go to town every day but Monday. Why do I do this to myself?
Tuesday Ira had his two-month checkup and also immunizations. I arrived home in time to clean up the house real quick and make dinner for the missionaries. We had biscuits and gravy, hashbrowns, eggs, orange juice and milk. After the missionaries and Joseph left (Joseph had Mutual) Eve and Marie helped me cut out temple templates on handheld mirrors to etch for Activity Day on Wednesday. Luckily I decided to actually etch one so the girls at activity day could see what they were making. Unlucky for us the etching paint peeled right off. It appears the mirrors we purchased at the dollar store were actually some form of plastic! ARRGGHH!!!! We went to bed disappointed.
Wednesday we didn't do school because we spent the morning preparing for our trip to town. First we went to Wal-Mart to buy frames with real glass to etch for Activity Day. Then I had a presidency meeting. Eve and Marie put all the templates on the frames during my meeting. After my meeting, we took Eve and Laura to get their immunizations. I also brought along the other girls immunization records to see if they were all caught up. They weren't. Marie and Sara had to receive shots too. Laura was very excited the whole time. She kept jumping up and down and was mad when Eve was called back first. When it was finally her turn, I pulled Laura's pants down and sat her on my lap while she clapped her hands and said "Yay! I'm getting shots!" Imagine the surprise and shock on her face when the nurse stuck her leg! Poor girl! She didn't cry though. In fact, she didn't make a sound! For some reason, though, she doesn't want to get more shots. :D After their shots, we had about 30 minutes to kill before Activity Day so the girls played at the park. Marie was spotlighted at activity day (which essentially means she tells about herself and then has to provide the activity). We etched little Salt Lake Temples on the glass of picture frames. They turned out very cute.
Thursday was more normal. I only spent most of the afternoon preparing for the Family Home Evening Enrichment Group Meeting that I am in charge of for this year. This was our first meeting. We made these FHE boxes to hold all the teaching aides and FHE lessons we will be doing in upcoming meetings. They are file boxes that we covered in white paper. One long side contains a chart for FHE assignments and the other sides are decorated with family photos. We covered them with clear contact paper. The lids has felt on it so it can be used for a flannel board.

We had a great turn out and I enjoyed meeting some new sisters. Our Enrichment activities have been combined with another ward so we can meet more women with similar interests. I came home to a clean house (miracles never cease!) thanks to Joseph and Eve. Marie came with me to help with Ira.
Today I had an optometrist appointment first thing. My left contact washed down the drain last Friday so I've been hiding behind my glasses all week. When I told Joseph I lost my contact he said to use my spare. I unhappily informed him that it was my spare! I then went grocery shopping and got home in time to make Chicken Noodle Soup (with homemade noodles) for Marie's birthday lunch. And now I can finally relax a little and prepare my Sharing Time lesson for Primary on Sunday.

Oooh, poor Laura! My little Laura would have been wailing. It's Jenna who would have been tough. She's always been tough. I don't know if you notice this in your family of kids, but in our family the kids sometimes look for little traits and things that are entirely their own. Jenna's is being tough during shots. She actually looks forward to immunization time because then she gets to be the "tough" one again. It sets her apart for a moment.

I love that family home evening box. What a great idea!

I know you posted this ages ago, but I am very very grateful for this post. We have been trying to figure out a way to organize our family home evening responsibilities and your box idea inspired our wonderful evening tonight.
