We had a wonderful time visiting with Grandma and Grandpa V. Grandpa took a ton of pictures of Ira and the girls with his very nice camera. It's so nice to have someone around to keep the older ones busy so I could rest and Joseph didn't have to worry about us as much. Laura is still having a rough time accepting she is no longer the youngest. She is doing a little better each day but as soon as she sees me put Ira down she wants me to hold her for a few minutes.

We are all taking a break this coming Thanksgiving week and then it will be back to school for Sara and Abby while Eve and Marie will have a less intense schedule then they had before Ira was born. Eve and Marie will only be required to do school 3 days a week. Sara and Abby need to review their phonics and just practice their reading. As my mother suggested I need to reward reading with reading. Does anyone have any fun review games or ideas I can use with them? Reading and math facts are going to be the focus with those two until the new year.

There are only a few things one can do while nursing a baby: work on the computer, watch TV, or read. I have a few books I will be reading aloud to the girls but am looking for some books to read on my own when I don't feel like talking. Anybody have any good recommendations? I 'll read anything!

Yes yes yes!!! You would LOVE Jeff Shaara books. I think he is my favorite author. I think I'll post about my favorite books for you. But definitely check him out. He writes historical fiction but his stories are the actual history set into the story so his main characters are George Washington, Robert E. Lee and others. I LOVE HIS BOOKS!!! My favorite is his one on WWI it has the Red Baron story amongst others. It is way cool.

Next pick yourself up some Clive Cussler. His Dirk Pitt books are the bomb. High adventure, fun history mixed with present day and it's CLEAN. So many books nowadays have cussing or sex up the ying yang, not our Clive. Fuunnnnn reads.

Gilead by Marilynne Robinson

The Read-Aloud Handbook by Trelease

Marley & Me by John Grogan--I laughed, I cried...very light reading and very entertaining.

Women who Run with the Wolves by Pinkola-Estes. This is a must read-Buy this book, (rip out chapter 11 & burn it..but the rest is phenomenal.) She has a doctorate in anthropology, with specific interest in ancient myths & folklore, and post-doctoral recognition in Jungian analysis. It's great!)

Poisonwood Bible by Kingsolver-if you haven't already read it.

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult-(there are some pages to skip in this one too, but its a very thought-provoking story.)
