Patriotic Quilt Squares

Our local library is having a quilt square design contest for kids. The only criteria was they had to be 12 1/2 inches square and patriotic using red, white, and blue. Here is what Eve, Sara, and Marie came up with. Eve wanted the middle square to mimic a flag and sewed the strips around it using a courthouse steps design. Sara wanted to be more abstract and created a mountain scenery by sewing all the applique pieces on her square. Marie decided to do redwork of a Sunbonnet Sue for the middle square and then sewed the strips log cabin style around it. They had a fabulous time and I think they did a fantastic job.

We LOVE your quilt squares, girls! That is so neat that you are able to do work like that.

What beautiful quilt squares! I'm not even sure which is my favorite -- they're all so terrific. Be sure your girls know they can already sew much better than me. Wish you could teach me how to do that! lol
