Junior Duck Stamp Contest

"What is the Junior Duck Stamp Program? The Junior Duck Stamp Conservation and Design Program is a dynamic, active, art and science program designed to teach wetlands habitat and waterfowl conservation to students in kindergarten through high school." You can read more about the program on the National Junior Duck Stamp Contest website.

The girls have been participating in this for the past 4 years. They really enjoy drawing the ducks and then experimenting with different mediums to complete their projects. By far, acrylic paint is their favorite. Progress is seen as they compare their pictures from previous years. Here are their entries for 2006. We'll find out in a week or two how they do.

This Northern Pintail was painted by Eve (10). She received honorable mention in her division last year.
Marie (9) decided to paint a Blue-winged Teal drake. She won first place in her division last year.

This is a Greater Scaup Drake done by Sara (7). Sara won 2nd place in her division last year.

This is Abby's (5) interpretation of a wood duck. This is her first year entering the contest.
